Korean Energy Agency And Korean International Cooperation Agency Koica Visit Green Star CRE Energy Plan GCEP

On April 21, representatives of the Korea Energy Agency and KOICA organization (Korea International Cooperation Agency) had a working visit to Green Star CRE Energy Plant -GCEP at Que Vo district, Bac Ninh province.

Overview of GCEP plant, one of the pioneering waste-to-energy plant projects in Vietnam

GCEP waste to energy plant is located in the Municipal and Industrial waste treatment complex at Phu Lang commune, Que Vo district, Bac Ninh province. The project policy was approved by the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh province in 2017 with an area of over 4 ha and the licensed capacity treatment of up to 800 tons/ day.

The working visit to GCEP Waste to Energy Plant has the attention of Mr. Kim Seungjin – Vice General Director of CRE Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd, known as EPC General Contractor; Mr. Hwang Jaeseon – Project Director and experts, engineers represented for Chosun Refractories Engineering Co., Ltd, the Investor from Korean Party. At the meeting, the leaders shared and positively evaluated the waste treatment technology of the GCEP plant in the field of waste incineration to generate energy as well as environmental treatment towards the goal of sustainable development.

The delegation visited and enquired about the automatic control system of the waste to energy plant

Proposed by Green Star Environment Co., Ltd on the basis of transferring the design, manufacture, and operation procedure of the incinerator from Chosun Refractories ENG Co., Ltd – Korea Party, GCEP waste to energy plant with high technology was approved and applied for the first time in Vietnam. The advanced incinerator system optimizes the combustion process, completely does not generate odors and harmful emissions, and combines a rotary kiln with a grate to ensure that the charged waste is completely combusted and minimizes the amount of generated ash. The heat obtained during the waste combustion is converted into energy for consumption. This process enhances the incinerator efficiency, maximizes cost savings, and concurrently ensures waste treatment and utilization of energy.

Following to the approved design specifications, the WTE plant will provide a waste treatment capacity of up to 180 tons/ day and night and electricity capacity of 6.1 MW, ensuring the number of operating days of 330 days/year. After entering into the official operation, the plant will be the optimal solution to support the ability of municipal and industrial waste combustion and minimize the overloading situation in landfills located in the area of  Bac Ninh province.

Commenced from 2020 until now, the GCEP waste to energy plant project has completed all main items and has been gradually put into commissioning since January 2022. As expected, the Plant is entering into official operation in August 2022, with the goal of not only satisfying the waste treatment needs of Bac Ninh province and surrounding localities but also supplying electricity to the national grid; contribute to promoting the development of green industry according to the global trend.
