The importance of OSH in construction:
– There exists numerous health risks exposing to workers in construction field. Accodingly, OSH in construction always plays a key role to protect the health and safety of workers and engineers as well as to avoid economic losses for companies and enterprises.
How to improve OSH in construction field?
- OSH training at CRE Vietnam:
- Every year, employees are arranged to join OSH training course to help them grasp knowledge and skills on measures to guarantee OSH at the workplace. The courses also help them identify health hazards, preventive measures, and solutions to incidents to reduce the risk of occupational accidents.
- Wear Personal protective equipment (PPE):
– Safety helmet
– High-visibility clothing (in the construction site)
– Safety footwear
– Mask (chemical use or exposure)
– Safety harnesses
– Eye protection
– Safety gloves
- Check the safety of equipment and machinery:
– It is necessary to make sure the equipment and machinery function safely before construction and installation of the project.
- Comply with the safe distance:
– It is necessary to comply with the safe working distances prescribed in construction field. It is particularly prohibited to violate the power grid safety corridor.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the workplace:
– Each employee should keep a sense of cleanliness in the factory, workplace and construction site.
- Electrical safety:
– Workers, machinery and equipment in the construction site must be assured of electrical safety. Electrical equipment must be safely insulated during construction. Workers must be trained electrical safety techniques and first aid in case of an electrical shock. The use of a safety helmet as well as safety harnesses are required when working at height.
- Fire and explosion safety:
– Sign of No fires, firefighting equipment and fire alarms should be installed at flammable locations to ensure timely fire detection and response.
- OSH regulations:
– The purpose of the OSH Regulations is to guarantee workers safety and work productivity. Complying with OSH regulations will reduce the damage to people and property.
